White Pick-Up Basketball Player Annoyed At Being Labeled 'Shooter' Just Because He Has A Gun

DALLAS, TX—Justin Fortner is a computer programmer who enjoys playing pick-up basketball during his spare time. But it is on these basketball courts the 22-year-old claims he faces what he calls hurtful forms of prejudice from the other players.

“Every time—without fail—someone will inevitably scream ‘shooter’ as I step onto the court," he explained, adjusting his Glock 19 in his holster. "When you’re white, people just assume that’s all you can do”

Fortner, who models his game after Larry Bird and Kyle Rittenhouse, says he can feel the tension as soon as he steps into the gym with his trench coat and Oakley Shades.

“Sometimes people don’t even want to play with me. They just pick up the ball and start running out of the building. It’s really hurtful”

According to the 22-year-old 4chan moderator, the bigotry he faces also affects his actual play in games. Fortner claims to be officiated differently, being cited for petty violations such as “Open Carry” and exposed to other odd on-court behavior.

“One time I called for a pick by pointing with my AR-15 and my teammate just dropped to their knees begging for their life. It’s reverse racism”

Fortner acknowledges that a majority of the prolific 3-point specialists in NBA history happen to be white, but he sees his style of play as more than that.

 “Sure, a lot of the game’s best spot-up shooters are white but I’m more than capable of taking someone off the dribble, especially with the space I create using my rifle”

Fortner vows to continue to fight these acts of bigotry and leaves a special message for his fellow pick-up basketball players.

“Stop assuming that someone can only shoot because of the color of their skin and how they choose to exercise their 2nd amendment rights”
