Small Town Cop Excited To Contribute To Racial Tension

BENTON, PA—Local small town police officer Jimmy Peters looking ahead to greater opportunities.

"This ain't bad. It's a good start," said Peters, waving his new baton around. "But, look, I know the level of opportunities that are out there."

Peters explained that although there's some crime, the chance to really make a splash requires moving on.

"I get to pull over mostly drunks, some of them are under influence of marijuana, but you know, they all look alike."

The rookie police officer is already looking for new challenges.

"If I'm really going to make a difference, I have to work in a more diverse community. We can't, you know, add evidence or shoot an unarmed white person. That shit won't fly in this community. I do that here and, damn, the pressure will be crazy," said Peters. "You learn that in day one of the academy, white perp by the book."

It's a big, dangerous world and Peters wants in on the action.

"I need to make that big arrest or stop a potentially violent criminal. That's why I'm here, to be that hero everyone expects. That opportunity don't just show up. You have to make it happen. Look, I don't make the rules. I just play the game. Sometimes the rules of that game are different, you know, depending on certain... factors. Do I have to spell if out for you? Come on."
