Rihanna’s Baby Set To Drop Album Before She Does

NEW YORK, NY—Music critics and fans alike were astounded today at the news that Rihanna’s as-yet publicly unnamed baby with A$AP Rocky is set to release an album named Fenty Jr. on Rihanna’s own Westbury Road label. The album, which is said to have a diverse sound with Afrobeat, dancehall, and tropical house influences, along with rumored features from Tems, Shenseea, and the deceased A$AP Yams, has immediately become one of the most anticipated projects of the year.

Rihanna herself stated that “from the moment my baby was born, they have been a creative source. The second they popped out of my incredibly talented womb, they were in the studio laying down tracks, experimenting with beats, rejecting Drake’s phone calls when he tries to collab on a track about a closed-down strip club inside of a Tim Horton’s. You know, the everyday life of a musician.”

While fans have spent many years combing through Rihanna’s Instagram for clues concerning her next project, her child was far more open, releasing a statement saying “Dada,” which of course indicates that the album will drop on Rocky's birthday on October 3rd. As to whether their follow-up press release, “Blue,” indicates a collab with Beyonce’s child Blue Ivy, only time will tell.

Reports stated that the process for recording the album was very collaborative, with Rihanna in the studio sitting quietly and not releasing any new music, while her baby tried out a Buju Banton sample that will undoubtedly be one of the defining sounds of 2022. Seeing her baby so hard at work seemed to inspire the Barbadian singer, with Rihanna saying, “seeing my pride and joy create such great music has made me want to continue making vague rumors and hints that possibly, one says, a follow-up to Anti will occur if we all ask very nicely.”
