Phew! The Author Of "Magic Treehouse" Still Unproblematic For Now

Mary Pope Osborne, the author of the best-selling series “Magic Treehouse” is still unproblematic as of November 2020. Thank god!

Over the years, we have suffered casualty after casualty from finding out their childhood faves were actually dumpster fires masquerading as human beings.

From learning that Lewis Carroll was lowkey a pedophile to learning that J.D. Salinger was lowkey a pedophile to learning that William Golding was a full-on pedophile...dang, are there any famous men who weren’t pedophiles? What the hell.

Anyway, it’s nice to know Osborne is as good at being a kind person as she is at spinning tales about two siblings traveling through the highlights of history.

Osborne has traveled the world, visiting schools and speaking up for children’s literacy. She even donated the $5.7 million dollars her first “Magic Treehouse” film grossed. We are blessed to have her here on earth!

Not all authors have stayed so pure.

For example, if you were an avid reader as a kid, you might be shocked to learn that the writer behind “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Matilda”, and “James and the Giant Peach” is a huge anti-semite. And much like his vast roster of noteworthy books, Dahl also had an equally vast roster of terrible viewpoints: racism, sexism, fat-shaming. What? The guy who made a kid named Augustus Gloop?? Guess it checks out.

So I guess it’s a good thing Mary Pope Osborne is freaking incredible. She’s most recently been donating books to thousands of students in need around the country, including partnering with an organization to donate books and supplies to millions of low-income kids. Wow!

The opposite is true of Lemony Snicket, who had a series of unfortunate sexual misconduct allegations on top of also writing racist characters. Yeesh.

That’s why we stan Mary Pope Osborne who uses her platform to uplift teachers working overtime during the pandemic. So sweet and boring, we love to see it!

Speaking of platforms, we have to mention the recent transphobic tirade “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling went on during a historic civil rights movement and Pride month. Great timing girl, thanks.

Instead of apologizing, Rowling doubled down like a dipshit with a blog post and then tripled down to announce that she’s writing a book about it. Gross! To what lengths will she go to tarnish her own legacy? Look, we might’ve forgiven her for naming her character Cho Chang, for having more goblins in a seven-part series than Black people, and even for making Harry such a little bitch, but this is where we draw the line.

That’s why we love unproblematic queen Mary P (that’s what we’re calling her now because we think she can hang) for using her Twitter to respond to handwritten letters students write to her and to share photos of all her dogs. This seems like what a children’s book author should use their Twitter for right?

Well anyway, long live Mary. Can’t wait to read her future books, hopefully, named “Magic Tree House: Pissed About the Pandemic” or “Magic Tree House: Twilight of the Trumps.”
