Woman Cooks With 14 Types Of Flour, Still Mixes Up Asian Coworkers

SAN FRANCISCO, CA —Marketing strategist and part-time baker Callie Thompson, 32, apologized Friday for once again mixing up her coworkers Susan Park and Vivian Moon.

“Honestly, I don’t know how this keeps happening,” Thompson said, completely apologetic at the all hands meeting. “I mean, I get nuance. I can notice the difference between a Sonoran white and a Red Fife hard winter from 20 paces. But there’s something about them that I just can’t seem to get.”

Her company's HR has apologized profusely to Park and Moon, who have to endure this consistently for years.

“I’m sort of used to it,” says Park, whose impressive 5’10’’ stature is often mixed up for the 4’8’’ Moon.

“Sure, I’m 24, unmarried, and have a sleeve of provocative tattoos,” says Moon, applying ointment to the massive scar on her face that she received during her childhood years from mysterious circumstances. “But, Susan is 45, peg-legged, and a single mom to four kids. To the average American, we're identical."

She shows her inbox, which is full of emails titled to the only other Asian coworker.

“Honestly, we’re both at that stage of Asian development where no one knows what age we are. It’ll be like this for the next 40 years,” she said, resigned. “It’s honestly my fault for taking the job when another Asian was already here. Big mistake on my part.”

Thompson will be undergoing mandatory emergency diversity inclusion and equity training. The HR representative, Annelyse Miller, said it would consist of showing her a series of photos of Asian people and asking her if they were the same person.

“We’ve found that this is very helpful as white people sometimes have never seen an Asian person before," said Miller, organizing her Asian people flash cards. "Our company is in San Francisco after all, so it’s very understandable.”

Thompson can’t wait to get started. She states she’ll be bringing her signature cardamon buns which she’ll make from a new type of wheat she’s calling “Asian wheat.”

“It’s the least I can do to make racial amends."
