Man Insists He Could Have Went Pro If He Wasn’t 5’7", Misses Wide Open Lay-Up
ROCHESTER, NY—After a heated pick-up game at the neighborhood YMCA, 35-year-old Vincent Copeland informed reporters how he could've gone pro if he wasn’t 5’7".
“I was told I had tremendous potential coming out of middle school, but it all went downhill once I turned 17,” said Copeland, checking the court to make sure kids didn’t take his ball.
"Scouts have told me I’m like a smaller Lebron James, the original Bronny. I can shoot, pass, and play defense! The only thing I can’t do is dunk or guard anyone taller than me. God, I wish I could dunk,” he sighs as he cranes his neck to look up at the hoop. “I had the skill and the IQ, but unfortunately I got my mom’s height. It’s ok though. I was able to forgive her eventually.”
Copeland then picked up a basketball to show reporters his ball handling.
“Did you just see that crossover?!? Imagine if I was 6’3"! Hell maybe even 5’9"! I would be a monster!”
He took a sip of water and said, “My dream was to be the number one draft pick, but I’ll settle with not being picked last during a pick-up game.”
Copeland walks away to jump and tap the top of the door frame as he enters the gymnasium, ready to play another game. During the next game, Vincent missed a wide-open lay-up and declined a follow-up interview.
