Fan Afraid To Admit Favorite Basketball Player Kyle Korver With “Everything Going On Right Now”

MILWAUKEE, WI—Local fan David Hall has been thrilled with the Milwaukee Bucks current run in the NBA playoffs. However, Hall has been feeling apprehensive and even a bit fearful when it comes to talking about his favorite player, Kyle Korver.

“Things are a little tense with the pandemic and everything else going on in this country and state right now,” said Hall, emphasizing the word ‘everything’ as he sweats through a wool hoodie that covers up his Korver jersey underneath.

Hall, who is referring to the non-stop police brutality and murder of Black men and women that’s plagued the entire nation, and most recently Wisconsin, has yet to participate in and even verbally acknowledge the Black Lives Matter movement.

“If this was last year and these, um things, I mean you know, weren’t happening, I’d proudly say I'm a big Korver fan. I mean the guy wrote an essay about white privilege! That's a thing now, right? I haven’t read it, but this is why I’ve been a fan since he was on the 76ers,” said Hall as he took down the Korver posters on his wall and sadly put up a dusty poster of Denzel Washington as Malcolm X. “Oh, I was a huge fan of Iverson too! Make sure you put that in.”

“I just don’t want people to think I only like white basketball players. I love the Black players—I mean the African American ones too! Giannis is amazing, Sterling Brown is great! I even made sure to like every Facebook post about Sterling Brown’s um, incident,“ said Hall, referring to when police tased and brutalized the Bucks’ small forward in 2018.

For now, Hall is keeping his love for Korver hidden, even though friends and co-workers have told him that they “literally don’t give a fuck.”

“I don’t care which basketball player Dave likes. Look, I love Korver too. The point is that I just want the country to defund and abolish the police and hope that people like Dave speak up,” said Hall’s neighbor while picking up the ripped up Korver posters that Hall threw on his lawn.

But for Hall, he just hopes that “everything cools down a little” before he starts wearing his Korver jersey again.

"I want to be able to enjoy basketball the way it was before all of this," said a teary-eyed Hall as he unfollowed Korver on Instagram and sadly followed the Black Lives Matter account.
