Snooze Fest! Amazon Wish List Filled With Books About Societal Problems That Are Not Trendy Anymore

SEATTLE, WA—On a rainy Sunday, Gillian Phillips, 33, decided to start reading again. As she opened her Amazon book wish list, she was disappointed to learn that none of them were about anything that was trending anymore.

The topics spanned from criminal justice reform to Afghanistan, Trump's first term to LGBTQ rights, climate change to the price of god damn wheat. Over the months, these books were added when awareness exploded online, and in response, Phillips found the top-selling book on Amazon instead of visiting her local bookstore.

“I mean, hell! If no one is talking about these, then what's the point?” she snorted, deleting all the books from her list and adding Gone Girl. "I guess I can read this again. I lent my last copy and never got it back."

When asked about what she was considering, she opened Twitter to see which systemic issue was being illustrated through current events.

“Let’s see, let’s see… the Supreme Court and the future of democracy seem hot in these streets right now. But I’m looking for something a bit... more fun."

After switching to Instagram and seeing what her favorite fitness, model, and lifestyle influencer was reading, Phillips gravitated towards the self-help genre.

"I think, Thoughts for Thots, or 7 Habits of Highly Effective Baddies, or How to Be a Boss B*tch by that boss bitch from Selling Sunset is best for me right now."
