Incognito Sir Mix-A-Lot Attends Local Karaoke Night To See If 'Baby Got Back' Still Doing Numbers

NEW YORK, NY—Remarking that it was good to finally see the reclusive ex-hip hop star venture out of his house for the first time in a while, sources close to the iconic singer reported that Sir Mix-a-Lot, donned in a hefty disguise to retain his anonymity, attended a local karaoke night at Pat’s Lounge & Cocktails, curious to see if “Baby Got Back” was still performed as often as it used to be.

“I hope at least one patron chooses it tonight,” began friend and colleague, Shock G. “Mix has been in a funk lately, thinking the whole karaoke community has regarded the song as a thing of the past. It's karaoke, right? All the songs are a thing of the past. I keep telling the lucky bastard that at least it had a good run. ‘Humpty Dance’ had a couple of good years, but man, that song? I even heard Wyclef Jean’s son humming it one day. It’s like, everybody still remembers it!”

Some people are genuinely worried that the once very in-demand singer/songwriter may be losing touch with reality and that people not wanting to sing or even lip sync or this once overly done hit may be just another nail in the coffin.

“I dropped him off at the bar,” began Mix’s current girlfriend. “I swear I heard him humming ‘L.A. face with the Oakland booty’ as he was stepping out of the car. I just… I worry about him sometimes. I hope someone does the song, even if it has to be the inevitable white girlie with absolutely no ass.”

“We’ve been here about two hours now and so far, nothing,” remarked Warren G from inside the bar. “And I was cringing the whole time that one dude sang ‘Regulate.’ Mix looked over at me from our table like I had stabbed him in the back. It was rough, man. I just hope he doesn’t do what he did last time and performs it himself. I told him to hold onto the little dignity he has left.”

At press time, Sir was at his table near the stage, currently changing his song choice to 'Bust A Move.'"
