Chicken Tikka Masala Mostly Masala

Chicken Tikka Masala Mostly Masala

As restaurants are forced to reduce spending amid the Coronavirus pandemic, one thing remains consistent at Brooklyn’s India Market: the chicken tikka masala continues to have exactly three minuscule pieces of chicken soaked in an endless, unwavering sea of masala.

Although the restaurant places a surplus of chicken in dishes like Biryani, Chicken Korma, and sometimes even the Chicken Vindaloo, its most popular item has historically remained sparse, almost invisible to the naked eye.

Customers, however, find no problem with the dish and have actually found ways to savor every pathetic piece of chicken.

“The first day, I’ll eat two pieces of chicken and then save the last piece for leftovers throughout the week,” said Brooklyn transplant Kyle Smith, “Sometimes, I’ll get creative with the bucket of leftover sauce and use it as dip for things like naan, samosas or even tortilla chips. Fuck it, who cares? I’ll never finish it.”

Some customers even luck out and find the rare extra piece of chicken with their order.

“Once, I got four pieces of chicken!” Exclaimed Claire O’Brien, who orders from India Market every week. “Almost half a breast! It was delicious with the bathtub of masala they gave me.”

When reached out for comment about the consistent lack of chicken in the dish, owner Ahmed Sardar explained: “Huh, yes, it’s good. You place order now?”
