Peacock Adopts Potter Movies From HBO, Asks Viewers To Please Stop Calling Series 'Ran Through'

NEW YORK, NY—In an excited and magically-themed press conference, Sara Jacobsen, the Director of Content Acquisition at Peacock, proudly announced that the popular Harry Potter series will be streaming exclusively on Peacock starting in September.

"HBO's license to play everyone's favorite wizarding movies expires at the end of this month," she said, dressed in Hogwarts robes and waving an NBC-branded wand. "So that means that come September, Peacock will be the one and only home to re-visit Harry and his pals' amazing adventures. And yes, I get that the series has been passed around most streaming sites over the years, but I must ask people to please, please stop calling the series 'ran through.'"

Jacobsen went on to explain that her much younger team of marketing and culture analysts (and their legion of even younger interns) have informed her that "ran through" is a derogatory term that can be applied to someone who has had a relatively large number of sexual partners. The term is typically a dismissive attempt to cheapen the person in question. This, she insists, is not the case with the popular children's series.

"It doesn't matter how many sites have streamed Potter," implored Jacobsen as she passed out complimentary butter beers with Michael Scott's face on them. "They are still the same great movies we fell in love with many years ago. They are not—I repeat, not—community dick. So please stop referring to them in that way."

She even balked at a line of questioning that reminded her of the fact that with Warner Brothers now acquiring HBO Max, the series will most likely end up back there for good.

"We won't look too far ahead. For now, we will have fun with our Potter and not think too much about it. He's a good guy and—I think—capable of change, maybe even settling down. It's just fun, casual thing right now."
