Kevin Knox Projected To Seriously Shake Up How Knicks Lose
Fresh off his impressive showing in the NBA Summer League, coaches, analysts, and fans alike hailed rookie forward Kevin Knox as a bona fide game-changer that could seriously shake up how the New York Knicks lose this season.
“It’s only been a few games, but it’s clear he’s already playing at a level that will completely recalibrate the team’s dynamic when it comes to dropping games,” said Knicks assistant coach Roger Walp, adding that he couldn’t wait to see how Knox’s scoring mentality and lightning-fast first step would gel with teammate Emmanuel Mudiay's abysmal plus-minus and Michael Beasley’s surefire inconsistency.
“[Knox’s] offensive versatility and strong drive adds an exciting new dimension to a team that desperately needs to find some fresh ingredients for their losing formula,” said Knicks beat writer Justin Feeley. “It isn’t enough anymore to finish eleventh or twelfth in the East. We could finish fourteenth, or hell, even dead last. Anything’s possible with this Knicks squad.”
Fans too have embraced the young Kentucky product, saying that this could be the season the Knicks finally swap their five-year playoff drought for a six-year playoff drought. “It’s the closest thing I’ve felt to genuine hope in years,’ said Knicks fan and noted masochist Max Truchan. “Just looking at the schedule, games that once seemed like double-digit blowouts now look like they could be single-digit losses, or even heartbreaking last-minute chokes in overtime.”
At press time, Knicks fans reported that they looked forward to seeing Knox on the court with whoever’s trying to fill in for Kristaps Porzingis, and couldn’t wait for the NBA season to begin.
