After 2019 Failure, Spangler Candy Announces New Urban Line Of Sweethearts For 2020

Amid widespread controversy and disappointment that Valentine’s Day staple—Sweethearts Conversation Hearts—didn’t return in time for Valentine’s Day 2019, Spangler Candy announced Tuesday that Sweethearts Conversation Hearts will indeed return in time for next year... they’ll just look a little different.

A Spokesperson for Spangler Candy says that although the recipe and pastel palette of the candy will remain the same, the words and phrases will be more “urban.” Expect the traditional “Hey You” to be replaced by “Yo Ma” and “Call Me” to instead read “Call Tyrone.”

At time of press, Spangler Candy was still perfecting the list of words and phrases they will eventually use, but a box of prototypes accidentally fell into my fanny pack. My favorite ones were “Lit,” “Deadass,” “Slay,“ “Low Key,” “Pop Off,” “Extra,” “Sis,” “Ocasio-Cortez 2024,” “Snatched,” and “BLM.”

Here’s to you, “Fam!”
